How to prepare (so your day goes smoothly)
A little prep goes a long way in Monterey.
Gear & comfort: Monterey is cold-water diving. Make sure your exposure protection is appropriate for you, and that your gear is working the way you expect—especially your inflator, regs, and any accessories you rely on. If you’re bringing newer gear, give yourself time to get familiar with it.
Buoyancy & weighting: Proper weighting makes kelp dives so much more enjoyable. If you’re unsure, tell us—this is one of the easiest fixes that dramatically improves comfort and air consumption.
Mindset: Come ready to be flexible. We’ll aim for the best site for the day, not the site you saw on a postcard.
What to bring: The shore environment is a bit more hands-on than a boat. Think warm layers for between dives, something to drink, and whatever keeps you comfortable and organized.
